frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of private-pay vs. insurance-based therapy?

Private-pay services paid up-front allows full cost transparency with no unexpected bills to be rendered after services have been provided. Although insurance based healthcare is helpful in many ways, there are numerous limitations associated with it that often hinder best practice and outcomes for providers and patients, respectively. Private-pay PT allows more freedom and autonomy for therapists to treat their patients with no restrictions.

Do I need a referral from a doctor for physical therapy with Drive PT?

Although it is recommend in some instances for you to see a doctor prior to starting PT, Massachusetts is a direct access state meaning you do NOT require a referral for Drive PT to work with you.  Since I do not accept insurance, the usual wait times to start your physical therapy is drastically reduced.  We can begin THIS week instead of the typical 2-3 months most people have to wait to finally see a PT.

Does private-pay mean I have to pay cash?

Not at all!  We accept credit cards, checks, and HSA/FSA cards.  I can also provide you with a superbill that you may submit to your health insurance for possible reimbursement if you have "out of network" benefits.  (I am not enrolled with Medicare so you will not be able to submit any bills to Medicare for any type of reimbursement).

How much do sessions cost and how long are they?

All sessions are 1 hour long spent one-on-one with my undivided face-to-face attention.  You will not see my eyes glued to a computer screen at all during the session.

Initial Evaluation: $200

Follow Up Visit: $175

(Discounted to $150/visit if 6+ visits are required)

Can I be treated elsewhere other than my home?

Absolutely! As long as the location you prefer to be treated consents to you being treated there and there is adequate space.

How far do you travel?

I travel within 20 miles of South Plymouth (negotiable for further travel).

What equipment do you bring with you to a session?

It definitely depends on what I am treating you for but I am able to bring, but not limited to, a portable treatment/massage table, multiple resistance bands, ankle weights, hand weights, BOSU ball, foam roller, an agility ladder, kinesiotape, thermal massage gun, cupping kit, acupuncture needles for dry needling, and my hands!  Believe it or not, many exercises can easily be accomplished with items in your own home!

How long will it take for me to get better?

Without a crystal ball and given the multiple factors that contribute to a person's recovery, the national average number of PT sessions per patient is 12 visits over a 2-3 month period.  I usually strive for significantly less than this average but I focus more on your full progress than the numbers.

Are you insured?

Yes I am fully insured under my Professional Liability insurance with CNA Insurance Companies.
